Injury Prevention Programs
The Alameda County EMS Agency operates and supports several programs designed to preventing injuries and emergencies from occurring, thereby improving the overall health of our community.
The goal of Alameda County EMS' Injury Prevention Program is to reduce the number of unintentional injuries and fatalities. Unintentional injuries are the leading cause of premature deaths and lifelong disability. Common causes of unintentional injuries include motor vehicle crashes, falls, burns, poisonings, and drowning, which are often preventable. The Injury Prevention Program primarily targets children (0 to 18 years), older adults (60 plus), and organizations that provide services to these populations.
The Injury Prevention Program activities include:
- Community Education, Training, and Events
- Advocacy
- Networking
