10/10/24 - Recommendations
- In preparation for the anticipated approval of expiration date extensions, PLEASE DO NOT DISPOSE OF YOUR EXPIRED IV FLUIDS.
- Updates from HHS/Baxter:
- Baxter is flying in products from other plants across the globe that have been FDA approved
- 1.5 million bags of Baxter product were relocated out of Florida to safe areas from the storm-stricken areas.
- The FDA has been approving additional offshore manufacturers to increase capacity
- Shelf-life Extension is likely to happen. Recommends to not dispose of expired product. It was mentioned that those with expired product work with their supplier/manufacturer on a case-by-case basis now to seek specific shelf-life extensions
- Baxter is bringing in product from Canada, Ireland, UK, China and Mexico and other plant locations that are FDA approved to support supply chain.
- Baxter is doing 60% allocations based on ordering history for Adult products.
- Children’s Hospitals will get 100% allocation – with documentation supporting children needs if network or combined adult/children facility
- They indicated that customers reach out to them regarding needs for increase allocations, they will take on a case-by-case basis
- Baxter website updates on Monday/Thursday with any new information.
